Where is the hospital located?

St. John’s Hospital is located on Plot 7 – 9, Dr. Mwinganiza Road, Kyenjojo town opposite Electoral Commission, Kyenjojo district in Uganda, East Africa.

What are the hospital operating hours?

Our emergency services, delivery rooms, and inpatient wards operate twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. General clinics and routine outpatient services are open daily from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM.

Do I need an appointment to see a general doctor?

Walk-in patients are highly welcome in our Outpatients Department, where we attend to everyone based on order of arrival. Booking an appointment is only necessary if you want to see a specific visiting specialist.

What should I bring when coming for admission?

Please carry a valid identification document, your previous medical records, and personal items like clothing and toiletries. Expectant mothers should remember to bring their antenatal cards and the required baby care items.

Can I visit a relative in the inpatient ward at any time?

We have specific visiting hours to allow our patients sufficient time to rest and heal. Visitors are welcome during the afternoon from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM and in the evening from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

Billing & Insurance

Healthcare costs require clear planning, and this section explains how we handle financial matters. We provide transparent pricing and work with various payment methods to make our services accessible to all families.

Which payment methods do you accept at the hospital?

We accept cash payments, major mobile money services, and approved bank transfers at our main cashier counter. A receipt is issued instantly for every payment made.

Do you accept the government national health insurance scheme or private insurance?

We partner with top private insurance providers and accept corporate medical covers. We are fully prepared to implement government insurance systems as soon as they become active.

How can I get an estimate for the cost of a surgery or delivery?

You can request a detailed cost estimate from our billing office before any planned procedure. Our officers will break down the expected fees for theater, ward stay, and medication.

Are laboratory tests and pharmacy medicines billed together with the consultation?

Consultation, laboratory testing, and pharmacy drugs are billed as separate items. This system ensures you only pay for the exact tests conducted and the specific medicines dispensed to you.

What happens if my insurance cover finishes during my stay?

Our billing team monitors your insurance limit daily and alerts you well in advance. If the cover runs out, you can clear the remaining balance using cash or mobile money upon discharge.

Patient Support

Your comfort, rights, and emotional well-being are highly important to us during your time at our facility. This section highlights the extra care, feedback channels, and assistance programs we offer to make your stay comfortable.

How do I give feedback or file a complaint about the services?

You can drop written feedback into the suggestion boxes placed near the main reception and ward entrances. You are also welcome to speak directly with the hospital administrator on duty.

Is there support for patients who speak languages other than English?

Our staff members are fluent in English, French, Runyankole, Rukiga, Runyoro, Rutooro and Luganda to ensure clear communication. We always assign a translator if a patient speaks a language outside these options.

Does the hospital provide spiritual support for patients?

We welcome religious leaders from all faiths to visit and pray with patients in the wards during visiting hours. We respect the spiritual beliefs of every family we serve.

Can a family member stay overnight with a patient in the general ward?

Overnight stays for relatives are allowed exclusively in the pediatric ward for child comfort and in the private rooms. General wards are managed by our nursing staff overnight to maintain order.

How do I access my official medical reports or birth certificates?
